Shining Light On Our Heroes
Anytime we can remind our veterans that they aren’t alone is not only a powerful message but an incredibly valuable one. This is exactly why for this Veterans Day, in honor of all who chose to serve and protect our liberties, we hope our participation in Operation Green Light serves as a reminder that we do not take your sacrifice lightly.
Operation Green Light’s mission is to show support for veterans of all military conflicts, as well as raise awareness about the unique challenges faced by many veterans and their families, and the resources that are available at the county, state, and federal level to assist veterans and their families.
In tribute to our veterans, the County of Rockland’s Allison Paris Building on New Hempstead Rd. in New City and Building A in the Pomona Health Complex off Route 45 was lit green for Operation Green Light from November 1st through the 13th.
Around Veterans Day we are often reminded to thank our veterans for their service and while it is important to do so we hope that by shining a green light, the County of Rockland is showing our veterans they are seen, appreciated, and supported.
We know full well those who served and fought overseas never truly leave those battlefields behind. They are indelibly changed by their experiences in ways many of us will never understand. But just as they felt the duty to serve, we have a duty to help them in whatever ways they need.
When our heroes complete their service and return home, they face an entirely new fight transitioning into civilian life. While there is an array of services available to help, the system to access these benefits can be complex and difficult to understand.
We remind our heroes that our Veterans Service Agency is ready and waiting to help with you connect with a variety of services including:
- Applying for VA Health Care
- Acquiring G.I. Bill Benefits for education
- Assistance with VA Home Loans
- Compensation through the Veterans administration
- Discussing legal action with Camp Lejeune
This administration promises to always stand by our heroes in their time of need. We will never forget your sacrifices for our safety and our freedom and encourage all veterans to contact our VSA at 845-638-5244 for assistance.
May God bless you all and may God bless America.
